OXXYSLAB® · FOLLOWING OXYGEN

Following oxygen from the laboratory to the field.

Oxxyslab® is a food supplement containing a defined probiotic formulation of eight specifically identified bacterial strains. The formulation has been the subject of experimental and human research across different physiological settings.
MECHANISM

A mechanism investigated experimentally.

WHY THE GUT?
The intestine is metabolically active and continuously requires blood flow, energy and oxygen. That makes it a relevant place to investigate how oxygen is consumed at cellular level.
Experimental studies have examined how bacterial arginine deiminase activity interacts with nitric-oxide and HIF-1 pathways in intestinal cells. In the studied experimental models, changes in glycolytic activity and cellular oxygen consumption were among the measured outcomes.
IN PLAIN TERMS — In experimental models, a specific bacterial activity was associated with changes in cellular metabolism, including measured changes in oxygen consumption.

Technical detail: from ADI to HIF-1 and oxygen consumption
The proposed experimental mechanism begins with bacterial arginine deiminase (ADI) activity and has been studied in relation to nitric-oxide and HIF-1 regulatory pathways, including PHD2 and PI3K/AKT. OCR and ECAR are experimental parameters used to assess cellular oxygen consumption and glycolytic activity. These observations describe outcomes in the studied models and should not be interpreted as demonstrating an effect of Oxxyslab® on oxygen availability, oxygen utilisation or physiological performance in consumers.
RESEARCH CONTEXT
Experimental findings are presented here as research observations — not as a consumer health benefit.
Experimental models · Mechanistic research

Intellectual-property (European patent no. EP4366750) and mechanistic research may form part of the scientific background, but they are not presented here as evidence of a physiological benefit from consuming the food supplement.

DEFINED STRAINS · DEFINED FORMULATION

Studied as a defined formulation.

The research evaluated the defined formulation as a whole rather than extrapolating effects from individual species. Subsequent investigations extended the research from experimental models into human physiological settings.
Eight strains. Precisely identified. Their biological identity matters — scientifically and in the intellectual property behind the formulation.
A DEFINED EIGHT-STRAIN FORMULATION

Oxxyslab is built on eight specifically identified bacterial strains:

  • Streptococcus thermophilus CNCM I-5570
  • Lactobacillus brevis CNCM I-5566
  • Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis CNCM I-5571
  • Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis CNCM I-5572
  • Lactobacillus plantarum CNCM I-5569
  • Lactobacillus paracasei CNCM I-5568
  • Lactobacillus acidophilus CNCM I-5567
  • Lactobacillus helveticus CNCM I-5573

Strain identity is part of the science. The patent landscape behind this work refers to defined bacterial strains and specific biological activities — not simply to species names in the abstract.

ALTITUDE
3,800METRES

The research moved to altitude.

A study conducted at approximately 3,800 metres evaluated the defined formulation while collecting predefined physiological measurements under high-altitude conditions during the day and overnight. Study design, endpoints and results are reported in the cited publication.

RESEARCH PROJECT · 29:04

With freediver Vitomir Maričić, the research programme includes a breath-hold setting.

An ongoing research collaboration with freediver Vitomir Maričić records physiological measurements during prolonged breath-hold and the subsequent recovery phase, including peripheral and muscular oxygen saturation and cardiac and respiratory parameters. The project documents observations and does not establish that Oxxyslab® improves breath-hold duration, oxygen saturation, cardiovascular or respiratory performance, or recovery.

WHY THESE ENVIRONMENTS?

Why study oxygen-limited environments?

Reduced-oxygen settings make physiological responses measurable.

The intestine is metabolically active and has a continuous demand for blood flow, energy and oxygen.

Conditions such as altitude and prolonged breath-hold provide research settings in which physiological responses to reduced oxygen availability can be measured.

These environments have therefore been used to extend observations from experimental models into human research settings. The purpose of this programme is to investigate physiological measurements and research questions, not to establish that consumption of Oxxyslab® improves oxygen availability, oxygen utilisation or performance.
